BEWARE OF "ONLINE" COURSES
Many "Online ACLS" programs claim to be "AHA compliant". This does not mean it's an official AHA course. Per the AHA PAM 2012 pg 49…."No AHA course completion card is issued without hands-on manikin skills testing by either an AHA Instructor for that discipline or an AHA-approved computerized manikin in an AHA eLearning course."

Course Differences

Initial: Open to all, knowledge of EKG recognition and emergency pharmacology is needed.

Refresher:
  1. May be taken by anyone with a current AHA card for that course. Card must be presented prior to or on the day of the class.
  2. "Students who present an expired provider card or do not possess a provider card may be allowed to take an update course but will not be given the option of remediation. These students will need to complete the entire provider course if they cannot successfully meet the course completion requirements when tested." AHA PAM 2012 p51

Online Completer: Student must first complete the appropriate online course listed:
  1. CPR- AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1
  2. ACLS- AHA Heartcode ACLS Part 1
  3. PALS- AHA Heartcode PALS Part 1
  4. Fees for the online courses are paid directly to the AHA, fees charged by us are for the completion (Parts 2 & 3)
  5. OFFICIAL AHA ONLINE CLASSES

Challenge: Students with the following items may "challenge" the course by sucessfully taking and passing the written and practical testing.
  1. Current AHA course completion card
  2. Appropriate and current course Student Manual
  3. Students will not receive practice, coaching or remediation

THE AHA REQUIRES ALL STUDENTS TO HAVE THE APPROPRIATE COURSE STUDENT MANUAL. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING YOU OWN BOOK WITH YOU AT CLASS

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
